When PUBG's November 2024 update rolled across the Battlegrounds, it didn't simply knock; it kicked the door open with a brand-new Arcade mode and an oar-powered boat that could sneak over water like a whisper. PC players faced a maintenance window from November 6, 12 AM to 8:30 AM UTC, while console players waited until November 14, 1 AM to 9 AM UTC. The usual map roulette kept spinning: Erangel and Miramar each held a 25% chance in Normal Match, Taego and Rondo sat at 20%, and Vikendi rounded things out at 10%. For rotations featuring Deston, each map had a 20% probability, while Weeks 1 and 3 gave fixed and favored maps a 22% chance and left etc. maps at 11% each. Ranked map service, meanwhile, remained tied to the season, so nobody needed to memorize a new spreadsheet overnight.

Hot Drop: Land Hot, Loot Fast, Stay Alive

Hot Drop arrived as the newest Arcade mode, inspired by the players themselves. It was not for the faint-hearted. The mode packed 64 players on PC and 32 on console into designated areas of Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, or Taego. The safe zone was a very narrow sliver, and it tightened faster as time passed, like a noose with a grudge. There were no Red Zones, no Blizzard Zones, no cars, no care packages, no ships, and no trains—just 4-man squads with auto-fill enabled. World spawns matched Normal Match, and the plane automatically dropped everyone once it reached the edge of the Play Area. In short: land hot, loot fast, stay alive. The loot goblin in all of us had to hustle, plain and simple.

Inflatable Boat: Quiet Waters

Perhaps the update's quietest rockstar was the Inflatable Boat. Unlike the growling motorboats, this little craft used oars, letting squads slip across the water with 500 HP and a weight of 40. Four passengers could climb aboard, but only slot 1 could steer, and that player couldn't fire a secondary weapon. A single rower could manage about 20 km/h, but if passengers in slots 2-4 tapped sprint, she could surge toward 50 km/h. If destroyed in the water, the boat would slowly sink and dump everyone into the drink. It world-spawned on all maps except Paramo and Haven, and it also appeared in Custom Match's Spawn tab and Training Mode's Spawn Tool. Ranked and Esports Mode kept it out, though. A total game changer for rotations, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Quality-of-Life Tweaks and Map Changes

The Rondo map's Suburbia area was renamed Rin Jiang, giving the landscape a fresh identity. Spectators gained the ability to view a teammate's Inventory, and after jumping from the Emergency Pickup plane, a player could follow their teammate more smoothly. Deployable items such as the Folded Shield, Emergency Pickup, Mountain Bike, Blue Chip Transmitter, and Inflatable Boat now displayed their environmental use conditions in the Inventory. If the Emergency Pickup was unavailable, the game stopped players from even attempting to use it. A visual indicator appeared when equipping or hovering over deployable items, and the usage conditions were adjusted so those items could be used in more positions. System messages also became clearer when an item became unavailable mid-use.

The Tactical Pack received a small but meaningful change: items looted with the F key while wearing it were no longer automatically stored inside. The rules for acquiring and consuming ammo and items were improved for greater consistency. Communication got a boost as well—Radio Message Wheel and the 'Enemy Spotted' ping became usable in Solo Mode and Training Mode. On console, a new key binding for the 'Enemy Spotted' ping was assigned to the Hold R-stick button in the A/B/Custom controller presets. PGC 2024-themed decorations appeared around maps, some Overcast weather sound effects were reduced, and mysterious objects quietly vanished.

Clan, Black Market, and PGC 2024 Pick'em

The Clan system received a series of player-friendly adjustments. Clan Challenge goals were lowered, and Clan Member Missions were reduced with some details modified. The Clan Member Activity button became accessible from all Clan-related pages, the weekly Gauge Point/Class reset wording was made clearer, and certain Clan notifications gained colors for better visibility. In the Clan Inventory, Clan Tag Plate icons now displayed the 'PUBG' text instead of the Clan name.

The Crafter Pass returned with unique rewards and events for the month's shopping extravaganza, and the Black Market 2024 introduced Progressive weapon skins and Chromas craftable only through Special Crafting at the Workshop. For the esports crowd, the PGC 2024 Pick'em Challenge launched with an Overview page covering the tournament schedule and prize pool. The Pick'em Challenge page offered information on teams, remaining voting coupons, Esports Points, and the Esports Point Shop. Team Faceoff ran from November 13, 2 AM to December 9, 8 AM UTC, while Pick the Winner stretched from November 13, 2 AM to December 20, 8 AM UTC.

Inventory, UI, and Bug Fixes

Item expiry dates appeared in the lower-left corner of item slots, and a new notification message popped up when receiving temporary or permanent rewards. Minor tweaks were made to the death marker UI, certain Korean Radio Messages were changed, and item tiers were displayed in the background of icons in the Store purchase popup.

Bug fixes were plentiful. The FAMAS no longer spawned without a magazine in Training Mode. Changing perspectives while seated in the driver's seat and then exiting no longer reverted to the previous setting. Attaching tires to the Pillar UAZ with the All-In-One Repair Kit no longer reduced tire HP. Ranked players no longer saw markers floating in the air where Blue Chip Towers normally spawned in Normal Match. Console fixes addressed Radio Message Display Priority resets, PlayStation ping sound resets, R-stick dead zone behavior, Xbox Series X freezing near the Crossbow with Traditional Chinese selected, and more. The C4 attached to destructible terrain in Rondo could no longer be dropped by destroying the terrain. Team Deathmatch Spawn Kit presets with the DBS no longer defaulted to Assault and couldn't be changed. Several cosmetic issues were fixed, including the [CHROMA] ZERO-G - MP5K skin name, School Shoes with Leggings tier info, the Midnight Menace - Kar98k preview, transparent legs with Happy Hibernation Shoes, and the Ali the Fox Peach Backpack distortion.
